5.MATCH MAKER, MATCH MAKER SPARK UP A MATCH COVERED IN COLOR.5

The color that seems to be taking over all the fall clothing this season happens to be ox blood. Been there done that! Ox blood has been around since last fall and I'm actually starting to see the color navy taking over more and more articles of clothing other than frumpy trousers and blazers. Navy always is hiding in the shadows of every season but now it is time for it to step out into the spotlight. This season navy is one of this fall's biggest trend colors. I happen to have a few pieces of clothing catch my eye not only because of the silhouette, but because of the beautiful deep dark color of navy. I fell in love with a navy faux leather bustier that I found in Zara. Zara also is featuring a bunch of navy items.

Ah! Black and blue, blond and blu if you couldn't tell I love the color combination of these two dark colors. Some people don't mix black and blue but I think they are crazy for not doing it!

Prada: Working Girl
By CATHY HORYN

"If Miuccia Prada’s spring men’s show, in June, led people astray with its “Menacing Paradise” theme, set in the tropics, her women’s collection on Thursday night in Milan was a slap in the face, Cher style. It put across a strong physical attitude, not merely a tough-girl snarl. That was partly to do with the sports elements, like sleeveless viscose knit dresses, ribbed leg warmers with varsity stripes, and Prada’s version of the web sandal (sure to be a summer hit). There were also cheerleading references in the box-pleated skirts and schoolgirlish coats, now freckled with colored stones and other Prada details that keep you engaged. And typically you wonder, “What’s up, Miuccia?”Not so much this time. The fabrics — wools, screen-printed silks, viscose knits — were classic Prada, as was the chunky embroidery on many of the shift and coat shapes. The big difference this season was the reproduction of various illustrations and paintings of women. The Prada show space has a display of murals, “In the Heart of the Multitude,” by muralists such as Gabriel Specter and Stinkfish, and illustrators like Jeanne Detallante. Among the themes these artists explored are femininity, multiplicity and power. And that was essentially the message Ms. Prada wanted to put across in her clothes. Strong women, fighting women. “It was a very personal collection for me,” she said backstage. The clothes ranged from relatively simple sportswear to lavish compositions of printed mink and embroidery on shifts or coats. To my eye, the viscose knits looked particularly fresh, and I liked the transparently muscular attitude. (Britney Spears’s “Work Bitch” was on the soundtrack.) Since Raf Simons used Brian Calvin’s paintings of women on T-shirts in his spring 2013 men’s collection, and Warhol’s 1950s shoe illustrations on bags in his fall 2013 Dior show, I was a bit surprised that Ms. Prada went with the idea of reproduced feminine portraits. They’re on bags, too.She does treat the images with the intensity of poster art, and then adds Prada symbolism. But apparently there is less and less time for ideas to settle and marinate before they’re taken up by someone else and attacked in a different way."this article can be found here.

I liked Ms. Horyn's review on Prada's SS collection. She reviews this show in such detail as if you were sitting right next to her at the runway show. Also I like how you cannot tell if she loved or hated the show unless stated in the articles because she breaks down everything piece by piece. Cathy lets you know if she didn't like the music but did like the clothes. She could have explained the colors used in the show to give more detail to what she saw but other than that the article really puts in perspective how the Prada show was through her eyes.

3. STREET STYLE 3.

On the streets and out I have been noticing the plaid flannel making a serious statement this fall. It's not only used as a button up shirt but also is commonly tied around the waist. 90's grunge inspiration is always an okay in my book! So while walking around I snapped some pictures of cute buffalo plaid flannels on some lovely ladies and snapped one on a mannequin as well.
Red buffalo plaid seemed to be the most popular but any color or just a ratty flannel from a thrift store will do!
I adore this look because ANYONE can pull this off and it also adds some edge to certain outfits! Such an easy key item to fit in with the current trend on the streets.

Totally crushing on the last outfit paired with the leather jacket !

6.OC RTW SS14.6

Opening Ceremony always knows how to get my heart to skip a beat! As a total natural weirdo I feel like if I had to compare myself to one brand it would have to be OC. Needless to say, I looked at every single look on Style.com in detail. The handful of looks on Style is just the tip of the iceberg! Even though there are so many more looks from the runway show I am anxious so see everything photographed. What is amazing about these garments is probably the minimalist boho look ( I made that up BUT... Bohemian Minimalist? Can that just be a thing already?). Can we just look at the patterned flares with a black structured top and the boxy structured sweater with a Hawaiian/Korean-esque print on it.
As much as I want bohomin to be a thing lets face it.. Opening Ceremony can't have a single label stamped on it. Each looks is very diverse from the next.
Also the runway theme was Fast n Furious inspired ?! Beautiful garments and models getting out of sports cars. Sounds like a great show to me.

This will probably be my only NYFW post unless I feel like some of the shows need to be talked about a little bit more, just like this one!
OC X MY HEART
(hehe)

2. FALLING FOR THIS FALL KEY ITEM 2.

LEATHER INLAYS

Not only is Fall the time to break out your leather moto jackets but this Fall expect to see tons of garments with leather added into it. Leather sleeves, leather pockets, and leather collars! I've always been big on leather and now adding into everyday pieces just makes me even more excited for the Fall weather to start rolling in. For all my vegans there are tons of good quality faux leather out there as well! My current favorite are sweatshirts with leather sleeves, the perfect way to give some edge to something so casual.

You can find all of these items at Aritzia.com

10/10 on faux leather quality items! go into a store near you and just feel the faux leather. You will second-guess yourself if it is lambs leather or not!
My wardrobe will defiantly have more leather inlay items added into it this Fall. I will update on all of the leather inlay items I acquire in my blog posts!
